Chancellor Barzani receives Outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq, Bruno Saccomani
Today Chancellor Masrour Barzani received outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq, Mr Bruno Saccomani, and his team to discuss growing political and economic ties between the Kurdistan Region and Canada.
Speaking about the strong relationship between both nations, Ambassador Saccomani said, ‘In the last two years we’ve set the conditions for Canadian companies to engage here in Kurdistan.’
‘Canada’s footprint is established. It’s strong and promising for the future.’ He also announced that his government will increase its diplomatic presence in Erbil as a sign of its long-term interest and engagement.
Chancellor Barzani commended Ambassador Saccomani’s personal contributions in increasing bilateral ties. Further, he praised Canada’s ongoing commitment in the war against Islamic State (ISIL) and its strong support to Peshmerga forces.
