The Chancellor Barzani receives Canadian Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan
The Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC), Masrour Barzani, met with the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Mr. Bruno Saccomani, today to discuss bilateral ties and recent security developments.
The meeting touched on political and economic ties between Kurdistan Region and Canada, as well as ongoing military and humanitarian aid from Canada.
Both officials discussed areas of need, including for the ongoing war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and growing political and commercial interests in the Region.
Masrour Barzani said, “We are friends and partners, and we must work together to defeat ISIS and look beyond it for our bilateral ties.”
Speaking about the ‘holistic’ approach with Kurdistan, Ambassador Saccomani said: “I am very glad to see things progressing on political, economic and humanitarian fronts. This is something we feel is very important and is the package we’d like to bring and work with you on.”
“It’s part of the relationship we owe one another. This is the foundation for the relationship between Kurdistan and Canada for the future,” he added.
