Chancellor Barzani receives UK Ambassador to Iraq
The Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council, Masrour Barzani, received a delegation led by the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Frank Baker, to discuss recent political and military developments in the Kurdistan Region and the Middle East.
Both officials underlined the importance of supporting Peshmerga forces to hold front line positions against the Islamic State in Syria and the Levant (ISIL) and an upcoming offensive on Mosul. Chancellor Barzani emphasised the need for political forces in Baghdad to look beyond the military operation and consider political measures about the post-management of the city.
On the Kurdistan Region, both called for dialogue and understanding to address recent political developments. Chancellor Barzani said, “Political instability is contributing towards the continued economic downturn. There should be no pre-conditions by any party for talks.”
