Chancellor Masrour Barzani received today UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group
Chancellor Masrour Barzani received today UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the Kurdistan Region led by Chairman Jack Lopresti following the historic referendum on independence.
Speaking about the aftermath, Chancellor Barzani called on UK and members of the international community to encourage Iraq to engage in meaningful dialogue with the Kurdistan Region and avoid provocative measures. He said, ‘Our people have practiced a universal right enshrined in the UN charter. The international community must press Iraqis to settle this issue peacefully.’
‘The world must accept change in the Middle East.’
The delegates registered as international observers during the referendum. Lopresti congratulated the people of Kurdistan Region. He said, ‘We’re very pleased with the referendum’. They expressed support for the peoples’ legitimate aspirations and the iffy to self-determination.
The meeting also touched on regional military developments and UK’s continued aid to the Kurdistan Region.
