Chancellor Masrour Barzani’s meeting with Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen of Germany
Chancellor Masrour Barzani yesterday had a productive chat today with Germany’s Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen at the Munich Security Conference. In the meeting, Chancellor Barzani thanked Germany for its help in the war on ISIL, and continued training of Peshmerga and Iraqi Security Forces. He thanked Minister Leyen for funding the new Peshmerga hospital in Erbil as a living embodiment of the Peshmerga sacrifice. On KRG, Minister Leyen emphasized that Germany attaches importance to a stable and strong Kurdistan Region. She said Germany’s capacity building assistance and training will continue. They also discussed the situation in Syria, and improved relations with Baghdad.
