Dramatic decline in military aid to the Kurdistan Region
THE MILITARY AID TO THE KURDISTAN REGION HAS DECREASED DRAMATICALLY IN RECENT WEEKS. ISLAMIC STATE IN IRAQ AND SYRIA CONTINUES TO BE A GRAVE THREAT TO INTERNATIONAL PEACE AND SECURITY.
We are strongly concerned by a significant drop in military aid to the Kurdistan Region in recent weeks for the Peshmerga forces. The decline in military shipments will have grave consequences to international security.
In spite of 60 countries as members of the international coalition against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Peshmerga forces still do not receive necessary ammunition and arms to defeat ISIS.
We call on the individual member states of the international coalition to exercise its role to provide ground forces the equipment necessary to defeat this common enemy.
Support to the Peshmerga forces should be unconditional, and we call on the countries providing military aid to Iraq to take into account the federal arrangements between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government in Baghdad.
